The 2001 X5 is an important vehicle to BMW for the sport utility market segment. The 4.4i is a member of a series of two trim levels for the X5 which include 3.0i and 4.4i. The 2000 model began the promise of the BMW X5. The 2001 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers BMW hopes that the X5 4.4i will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
