First Impressions of the BMW X5 for 2001

The 2001 X5 is an important vehicle to BMW for the sport utility market segment. The 4.4i is a member of a series of two trim levels for the X5 which include 3.0i and 4.4i. BMW X5 Engine Specs
The restyled X5 4.4i is equipped with a 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The engine is mated to a ZF five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2000 version.
Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The X5 comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The truck uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The 2000 model began the promise of the BMW X5. The 2001 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers BMW hopes that the X5 4.4i will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
