The BMW X5 3.0si for 2008: Improving on 2007

BMW X5

BMW has been blessed with many award-winning designs, including the BMW X5 of 2008. There are two trim levels to the X5, including 4.8i and 3.0si. The 3.0si version is one of the more popular options. Like in 2007 the popular 3.0 liter has made this a popular choice for sport utility buyers around the world.

Performance

The restyled X5 3.0si is equipped with a BMW 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 24 valves. The engine is paired with a ZF 6-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for BMW.

Fuel is handled for the X5 is a Siemens MS 70 design, running on gasoline fuel. The gasoline is handled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 22.50 gallons.

The X5 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The truck uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The dimensions of the X5 3.0si are 76.10 inches wide by 191.10 inches long. It sits a comfortable 69.50 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 4 doors. The wheelbase of 115.50 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The listed retail price in 2008 (MSRP) was $45,900, with an invoice cost of $42,230. This price is slightly higher than the industry average price for a four-door Sport Utility.

Fuel Efficiency

The X5 3.0si received a miles-per-gallon rating of fifteen in-city driving and twenty one when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was subpar.
