In 2004 BMW released the X3 3.0i to the truck-buying market. The X3 came in two configurations: 2.5i and 3.0i. The 3.0i configuration is powered by the 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, which makes 23 - 24 highway miles and 17 city. The X3 competes in the Sport Utility market segment, in direct competition with Honda.
Several things can be said about the BMW X3 series: including the polarizing reactions most buyers have towards their truck. The six-cylinder engine is at the heart of the strong emotions, it is powerful for its class and delivers a large amount of torque.
Standard equipment in the X3 for 2005 and 2006 includes the 3.0 liter engine by BMW, weighing in at 6 cylinders and twenty four valves. A 5-speed Automatic Transmission puts the power of the engine to the pavement. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Sport Utility arena.
